Clean, the natural way
CREAMY SOFT SCRUBBER
Pour about 1/2 cup of baking soda into a bowl, and add enough liquid detergent to make a paste-like texture. Scoop the mixture onto a sponge, and wash the surface.
WINDOW CLEANER
Place ½ teaspoon natural liquid detergent, 3 tablespoons vinegar and 2 cups of water into a spray bottle and shake it up. If you don’t like the smell of vinegar, you can also use straight fresh lemon juice or club soda. If you use straight lemon juice use a lint-free cloth to scrub with.
OVEN CLEANER
Sprinkle water generously over the bottom of the oven, then cover the grime with enough baking soda that the surface is totally white. Sprinkle some more water over the top. Let the mixture set overnight. The next morning, wipe up the grease and then dab a bit of natural liquid detergent on a sponge to wash the remaining residue from
the oven. For new spills in the oven, sprinkle table salt liberally on the hot spill before your oven cools down. When the oven is cool, grab a damp cloth and rub off the spill.
ALL-PURPOSE SPRAY CLEANER
Mix up 2 parts vinegar and 1 part baking soda in about 1/2 gallon of water. This works well for shining chrome fixtures, shower stalls, and removing hard water stains. Add 5-10 drops of essential oils like tea tree, lavender, or lemon for a natural fragrance and additional disinfecting qualities.
ALL-PURPOSE DISINFECTANT
Mix 2 cups water, a few drops of natural soap, and 15 drops each of tea tree and lavender organic essential oil. You can spray this on all kinds of home surfaces like sinks and toilets, countertops, walls and more.
TOILET OR SINK SCRUB
Drizzle your toilet bowl with vinegar, lemon juice, or spray on some of your all-purpose disinfectant. Sprinkle with baking soda. Let it sit for 10 minutes. Scrub with toilet brush.
DRAIN OPENER
Poor ½ cup salt and ½ cup of baking soda down the drain. Next add ½ cup of vinegar. After the concoction has stopped bubbling, pour hot water down the drain. You’ll need quite a bit of hot water – about 6 quarts.
FURNITURE POLISH
Mix 1/2 teaspoon of olive oil with 1/4 cup vinegar or fresh lemon juice. Dab a soft rag into the solution and wipe onto wood surfaces.
